7/26/07..
It's been raining so much in our little city that I
truly feel like a drowned rat with an afro....I'm not even
kidding.  Curly hair + rain & humidity = fro.  So hopefully
we're looking towards  a lovely weekend for BeleChere....
there's lots of great music happening and I'm really
looking forward to our show on Sunday  the 29th....that is correct,
SUNDAY  AT  NOON.....THE  HAYWOOD  STAGE
(on Haywood street by the library).  I know it might seem
a bit early for some, but really, we will play before it gets
too hot & hopefully before it rains;  I've been perfecting
my costume & have some of my favorite people playing
(guesting Mike Alexander on bass, Michael Libramento on
guitar, Chuck Lichtenberger on piano & keys)....I will try to
be kind when I make out the set list, we won't kick it at
noon with the new thrasher/metal songs, so those of you
who might possibly be nursing a hangover, rest assured.  It
will be a grand and lovely time indeed.  So come on.  It's free...
check out the music schedule here or here.

on our hips'...
to express our own
idiosyncratic versions
of the id...IDFEST is
a celebration of the id
in the mountains...
the festival  will
showcase great
Asheville bands and
selected Eastern
US-coast bands who bare their ids and are open to joining
with other musicians for the benefit of the Eastern live
music scene. www.stephaniesid.com/idfest.html

.Starters...I know I haven't been the best updater of late,
and I'm taking full accountability for that.  Seems the last few
months have been quite a little whirlwind of exciting things in
this land of Oz.  On the timeline...
Rocktoberfest was an absolute ball...thank you to all who came
out and cheered, everyone was delightful and brought their
stuff to the stage with style.  Plus, any reason to sing and
dance in crinoline is a good one.  'nuf said.
The band had a really amazing show at the Grey Eagle in
November, in celebration of the union of two of my favorite
people ever, and I'm still kind of floating on that feeling in a
way.  An honor to be there and share the music with so many
amazing, talented, inspired folks.  This is a great city.  A
live track from that night is on our
MYSPACE page, as well
as some new pictures.  Go check it.
I'm sure that you think that we've dropped off the face of the earth, but
rest assured, things are really good right now, even though my focus is
not so much on the live band at this time. I'm sorry to say that there is
no drama or cat fight to report (how very un-rockstar, I know...I'll try
to claw some eyes), the sound has been morphing over the last few
years, and I am retuning myself with my songwriting.  I'm taking piano
lessons again (no, I will not play you a little ditty, no matter what
you offer...not for a bit of time yet), and really want to be sure that
all that I hear will also be what you hear when the songs hit the stage
and the new CD.  So it's been a time of writing, listening and growing
on those terms, and not so much booking.  And it's been really
beneficial to explore...I am really excited about what is to come.
I've also been to some incredible shows....Imogen Heap,
Joanna Newsome, Rasputina, our very own Jenn Foster's
"Bad Girls Have feelings, Too", Menage...all good folks to
be inspired by, and I have been.
Music really is the best way, thanks to all of you who share yours,
and thanks to all of you who listen and give back...it is the world
us all.  Take some time to hear it...

10/25/06...
The countdown is on!! 4 more days 'till Battle of the Bands
takes the stage at the Orange Peel!!  Please join us, and wear
something
RED...why?  Because we like red and it will make us feel
so warm and fuzzy...plus, it's almost Halloween and you need to get into
the festive spirit.  So anything goes.  Doors open at 7pm, music starts
@8pm...$8...holy cow, waaatta baaagin!
I'm also pleased  to say that my debut guest DJ spot on Sunday with
AJ on Siren's Muse (WPVM) went off quite well, with only one bout
of dyslexia....and absolutely NO turrets.  You can catch it on the archive
at  http://archive.wpvm.org/sirenstream.m3u and get a little chuckle....and
hear some great tunes we were spinning.  It will be up until midnight on
Sunday 29th.
"Christmas Day" has been selected for the Battle of the Bands on
Star 104.3 fm...You can check that out here, and I'll let you know when
we slide into the challenger's seat to take things over!!
Be well, and watch out for the squirrels!

10/10/06...
So much news!  We are giddy to announce that Ruby Slippers has

Echo Mountain Studio for a 5 song ep!!  Come and scream your hearts
out for us (it will only increase our undying love for you even more).  See
www.echomountain.net for more info & to scope out the serene scene.

Volume 10" ...go to www.wncw.org to help us show them some love
in return.

It's time again...June, hot sun, cool nights, good music.  We've
had a little change of date...our French Broad Brewery show will now be
Thursday, June 22nd...sorry about that.  It's also time for the Arts Council
Ball again, (Saturday, June 24th) and this year, it is RED HOT.  For real,
it's the Red Hot Ball, and this year is a bit different for us.  I will be
singing some sweet and sultry jazz at the "Wisdom Party"....very special
treats are in store for all party-goers.
Later on that very evening, saunter down to the Grey Eagle for IdFest with
our good friends Stephanie's Id...Andy and I will be sitting in, and it's the
perfect time to let your own Id out to play...to get your Id on...you know
what I mean!

schedule page for more info on all things Ruby Slippers.  We've
been busy writing too, so next time you see us, we reward you with new

in her stocking and won't clash with her window treatments!
